The 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport vs. Honda CR-V

Hyundai and Honda, two well-known automotive manufacturers that seem so similar. Although their names sound similar, they are in fact quite different. One of them is Korean, the other Japanese. One of them produces the 2018 Santa Fe Sport, and the other produces the 2018 CR-V.

Don't worry. We were confused at first as well. That's why our team wrote this comparison between the 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport vs. Honda CR-V to help out.

We'd like to clarify all the major differences between the Hyundai Santa Fe Sport and the 2018 CR-V for our friends in Cerritos, Long Beach, Anaheim and the nearby California communities.

2018 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport vs. Honda CR-V Interior Passenger Dimensions

Right off the bat, you can see that the 2018 Santa Fe Sport gives you and your passengers tons of room.

We're talking about 39.6 inches of front headroom, 41.3 inches of front legroom, 59.4 inches of front shoulder room, and 56.7 inches of front hip room. As for the second row, you'll find 39.1 inches of second headroom, 39.4 inches of second legroom, 58.3 inches of second shoulder room, and 55.4 inches of second hip room.

On the other hand, the 2018 CR-V isn't quite as roomy. It includes 41.3 inches of front legroom, 57.9 inches of front shoulder room, 55.1 inches of front hip room, 55.6 inches of second shoulder room, and 49.5 inches of second hip room, all less than or equal to the Hyundai Santa Fe Sport's measurements.

Engine Options

Then you've got the Santa Fe Sport's various engines. You can choose between a standard GDI 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine (Dual Continuously Variable Valve Timing) or an available 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine.

The Hyundai's standard engine generates up to 185 horsepower and up to 178 lb-ft of torque, while its available engine can deliver as much as 240 horsepower when the conditions are just right. Awesome!

The Honda CR-V comes outfitted with a 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine that tops off at 184 horsepower. This crossover also offers a turbocharged engine to drivers. However, the 1.5-liter turbo 4-cylinder maxes out its performance at 190 horsepower, giving the turbocharged Santa Fe Sport a pretty significant advantage in output.

Safety for the Entire Family

Last but certainly not least, there's the question of safety. Hyundai's Santa Fe Sport comes equipped with a variety of features and systems that'll keep you and your family as safe as they can possibly be. Some of these safety features include:

  • Smart Cruise Control.
  • Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB).
  • Lane Departure Warning.
  • Blind Spot Detection (BSD).
  • Multi-View Camera System.

Now, that's the type of vehicle we'd feel comfortable letting our children ride around in all day long!
